ProTRAX FEATURES
Modularity

ProTRAX is modular at several levels: physical components, control logic, subsystems, and function. The process module library is based on physical components in a plant rather than thermodynamic nodes. Controls are developed in the familiar ISA/SAMA block form, and control systems are divided into independent models representing each separate function of the actual plant controls. Process subsystems are divided into independent models, such as boiler, turbine cycle, and electrical models, so they can be developed and tested separately. Functions such as analyses, instructor operations, and operator functions can run on separate computers to reflect the actual plant operation.

Operating Systems

Based on the Windows® operating system, ProTRAX may be run on any high performance personal computer or workstation. In addition, process and control system models generated by ProTRAX may be run on a UNIX platform and connected to the Run Time Executive or other process and control models via an Ethernet (TCP/IP) LAN.

Expandability

The system can be configured to operate on multiple computers and/or workstations, allowing parallel processing of plant simulation. This flexibility allows you to devote specific computers to different model segments, such as Process, Controls, and Operator Consoles.

Full Range Operation

All ProTRAX modules and the system as a whole can be applied over the entire plant load range, from zero flow under cold start conditions to beyond design conditions. Special features provide maximum accuracy in all operating regimes.

First Principle Based

The entire ProTRAX System is based on first principle mass and energy relations. Constitutive relations for mass and heat transfer are based on well-verified empirical correlations for the particular component.
