Simulation Engineer
TRAX, LLC, a leading supplier of engineering software for power and process applications, is seeking an entry level Simulation Engineer to perform plant analyses using a dynamic simulation of process and control logic. Applicant should be comfortable working with a group of experienced simulation engineers and enjoy dealing with customers. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
BS or MS degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Excellent computer skills
PREFERRED SKILLS:
Two years of process simulation experience
Good working knowledge of simulation software
Experience with power plants
Familiarity with controls and controls systems a definite plus
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare process model schematics from customer data
Develop power plant heat balance using MathCAD
Build and test ProTRAX process models
Develop simple controls models
Integrate ProTRAX models with DCS controls and operator interface
Troubleshoot simulator and controls problems
Perform simulator testing with the customer
Perform simulator delivery and installation

Senior Controls Engineer
Tired of spending your life on the road, but like working on new and interesting control system problems? TRAX, a major service supplier addressing unique control problems in the power generation industry, has an immediate opening for an experienced, self-motivated engineer who can demonstrate previous experience with the design and implementation of distributed control systems. Design and testing is done at the home office in beautiful central Virginia. With extensive testing against plant models, only short site visits are required for installation. Most control system work is for new processes designed to solve recent industry problems or advance the state of the art.
Requirements:
- Must be a US citizen or permanent resident
- BS or MS in the engineering field from an accredited university
- Demonstrated prior experience in the design, testing, integration, and tuning of automatic controls systems
for the power generation industry
- Ability to independently develop control logic for power plant operations
- Programming in C++, Fortran, or Visual Basic highly desireable
- Established experience with one or more of the following controls platforms is strongly desired:
- Emerson Ovation
- Westinghouse WDPF
- ABB Operate IT
- Bailey Infi-90, or Symphony
- Siemens TelePerm XP
